Dry ice
Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide. Since this substance is cold as ice but without any moisture, it is called dry ice. This substance does not melt, but it sublimates, i.e. transits directly from the solid to the gas phase.
The atmosphere is replete with carbon dioxide. This gas is also found in human exhalation and consumed by plants for photosynthesis. It is colorless, odorless and tasteless, with a density 1.5 times of the air density. Carbon dioxide is transformed into solid phase under pressure at a temperature of -78.5 ºC.
